CIVIC TOWER
Clock tower of thorns
The Clock tower of thorns is one of Manta’s symbols.
It was the watchtower of the medieval city walls.
In the late 19th century, it was transformed in bell tower, with a big clock on it.
The clock tower of thorns is an austere building, visible by every access road of the town, and also represented in the “theatrum sabaudiae” (1682) of Giovenale Boetto.
